"When we see land as a Community to which we belong,
we may begin to use it with Love and Respect." --Aldo Leopold
The Sacred Earth Foundation is a non-profit, community-stewarded land trust. It is one of the few land conservancy groups that has formally identified its approach and values to be  "spiritual"  in nature, believing that the Earth is Sacred and deserves to be treated accordingly. The circle above reflects the values of the Foundation. After removing abandoned buildings and piles of trash that for years had spoiled the beauty and integrity of the land at the edge of Rock Creek Canyon, Ekone campers and staff built this medicine wheel with stones taken from the foundations of the old buildings and celebrated their restoration work with thankfulness.

I Pledge Allegiance to the Earth

And all the Life it Supports
One Planet, In our care
Irreplaceable
With Sustenance and Respect for All!

The Foundation has thus far preserved over 1000 acres of precious canyon lands and oak/pine savannas. Development and logging are constant threats to the Ekone region and the Foundation is working hard to protect these lands. To see how we work, please see our Statement of Intent.   For more information on how you can help protect the beautiful and still wild lands that border Ekone and the Yakama Indian Reservation, please contact the Foundation at the address below:
